Science Faculty & Students Present Research at SNCURCS
On Saturday, November 5, a lively group of 14 students and faculty from biology, chemistry, environmental science and physics attended the 2016 State of North Carolina Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium (SNCURCS) at North Carolina Central University. Students who presented at the conference included:
Katherine Cochran (Biology – advised by Patricia Koplas) poster titled “The use of bacteriophage in preventing infection of Caenorhabditis elegans by Bacillus thuringiensis Kurstaki”.
Sanam Fazilova (Biochemistry – advised by Greg Pillar, co-authored with Juan Carrillo, Jasmin Tindal and Yebon Lee) poster titled “Identification and Quantification of Bisphenol-A and Bisphenol-S in Thermal Receipt Paper in the Greater Charlotte Area.
Miranda Garrett (Biology – advised by Joanna Katsanos) poster titled “Development of a consistent protocol for the genetic sexing of raptors found in the Southeastern United States.
Yebon Lee (Biochemistry – advised by Aaron Socha) oral presentation titled “Synthesis of Quaternary Ammonium Methyl Carbonate Ionic Liquids from Vanillin and Syringaldehyde.”
