Queens' Student Chapter of the American Chemical Society
The Queens University of Charlotte - Student Chapter of the American Chemical Society was founded in 2016 to cultivate a community of chemists engaged in advancements in science, community outreach, professional networking, and leadership and development as future leaders of chemistry.
Our Mission
The mission of this Chapter shall be to provide an opportunity for chemistry students to secure the intellectual stimulation that arises from professional association, to obtain experience presenting research before chemical audiences, to instill a professional pride in the chemical sciences, and to foster an awareness of the responsibilities and challenges of the modern chemist.
Professional Networking
The Chapter will make efforts to attend local, regional, and national meetings of the ACS. Additionally, the Chapter will work with other local Student Chapters around Charlotte. The Chapter will host and attend seminars, as well as graduate tours. Students will form close bonds with faculty through social and professional events.
Community Engagement
The Chapter will initiate volunteer activities with local schools to promote further studies and career paths in STEM. Additionally, students are encouraged to seek volunteer and internship opportunities around the Charlotte community.

Peer-mentor programs for incoming freshmen and transfer students will be created to provide helpful tips on research, volunteer, and internship opportunities. Career advising sessions will be held with helpful information on resumes, interviews, and graduate programs. Tutors will be available for general chemistry classes. Students will be encouraged to attend mock oral presentations.
